Get into the festive spirit with a hands-on Gingerbread Masterclass led by Bake Off Finalist and Science Communicator Dr Josh Smalley from the University of Leicester!

In this special Christmas workshop, Josh will take inspiration from heritage gingerbread recipes, guiding you through the process of creating delicious, beautifully spiced biscuits, with a sprinkle of science along the way. You'll receive the exclusive recipe to take home and dive into a creative session where you'll practice an array of royal icing decorating techniques to make your gingerbread truly shine.

Whether you're a baking enthusiast or just looking for a festive treat, this is the perfect opportunity to learn from a professional, pick up new decorating skills, and enjoy the sweet scent (and taste!) of Christmas.

Robin Stories and Christmas Crafts

A festive family activity designed for primary age children, to be accompanied by an adult.

All drawing materials and refreshments provided. Each child will make and take home a robin Christmas card and 5 gift tags. Suggested contribution £8 per child

This relaxed session will begin with some robin stories and the chance to be inspired by our display of hundreds of Christmas Robins from our archive collection to make your own decoration, card or artwork gift.

This workshop is also a chance to think about what the robin means to us, how it helps us connect with the natural world in winter time. Falling on St. Lucy's Day, the Festival of Light is also a chance to think about what we might give back, in this season of giving.
